So, you can believe us when we say we know our stuff!

We Specialise in Salt, Chlorine, Mineral and Freshwater Swimming Pool Care & Maintenance

As mentioned above in the title, we are experts when it comes swimming pool care in Brisbane. Whether it's salt pools, chlorine pools, mineral pools or freshwater pools, we've got you covered. They're all a little different from one another so it's important you find a company that acknowledges and thoroughly understands the differences.

Now when it comes to choosing the right pool company to look after you, it's important you do your own research. It's vital you find a pool company that properly educates their pool technicians so that your pool and pool equipment receive top care.

Too many times we've been called out by a new customer and found faults and leaks from prior technicians not installing a unit correctly, or using the wrong kind of chemicals in a pool. We've even heard some of our customers advise that previous companies would charge over $200 a visit!

How Much Should a Pool Service Cost?

Well, that's the golden question, and a tricky one to pinpoint directly without coming out and seeing the pool face to face. Though we'll do our best to answer your question.

To simply put it, our company, Pool Wizard, doesn't hold as many overheads as the bigger guys in the industry do. As we're a mobile service, we're able to price our chemicals and services at a much more reasonable cost.

If you're a pool owner who regularly gets a pool company to come out and look after your pool/equipment, you really shouldn't be spending more than $50 on chemicals a service. Now, let me explain a few things. A skilled pool technician will be able to balance your pool chemistry levels perfectly so that each and every pool service requires just a few chemicals to be added. That being said, after a storm or a large amount of rain, pools typically require a bag or two of pool salt, as well as a few other chemicals (it's really just dependant on the pool itself, no pool is the same).

Personally, our company, Pool Wizard, can balance your pool chemistry levels perfectly within 2-3 visits. When your levels are perfect, the required chemicals can cost you as little as $6. That's because it doesn't need anything added apart from a bit of water polish to break up built up oils, dirt and debris.

However, even a perfectly balanced pool will need chemicals added to it eventually. Again, like I mentioned earlier, after a storm or rain, the pool will typically require a few more chemicals (especially salt!) than normal to balance its chemistry. Phosphate levels also can go up over time, so it's important your pool technician is keeping an eye on these and bringing them down to 0 to ensure there's no chance of future algae growth.

Ultimately, the most important point to make here is you need to find a pool company that really understands how to balance water chemistry without adding the unnecessary chemicals to the pool. That's what's going to cost you more.

How Do I know I've Selected a Quality Pool Care Company?

You can find out whether or not you've selected a quality pool care company to look after you from a number of ways.

First of all, let's start simple. Is your pool company actually showing up regularly?

If you've selected a bi-weekly service, are they visiting your pool every two weeks? Or, if you've requested monthly servicing, are they reaching out every month to advise you they'll be out the following day?

Next, does the pool company regularly look over the equipment to check for faults or leaks?

We've personally heard of some horror stories where things have gone missed causing large water loss in pools, or worse, pool equipment to completely fail.

I remember we were called out to fix a broken pool pump for a completely new customer last year (it was our first job with them at the time). Upon diagnosis we located a number of small shredded metal pieces inside the pump.

They said they'd switched over to a different company to try someone else out but unfortunately, it was evident that particular company was using an old metal steel brush/wool (a huge no when it comes to pools for this sole reason) which then ended up in the pool pump causing the whole pool to go green.

Anyway, we repaired the pump within a couple of days and fixed the green pool and have been regularly looking after it ever since. Happy pool, happy owner!

When it comes to the cost, are you being charged fairly and correctly?

If you've been a pool company come out regularly, you shouldn't be getting charged anywhere more than $150 for the service + chemicals (unless there's been a storm/rain or your pool has gone green). Obviously, if it's the first time you've gotten your pool balanced then the cost might be higher than usual due to more chemicals being required. However, for regular servicing, your pool should be costing you no more than $150 max!

If you talk to the pool technician, do they really know their stuff?

Do they know the differences in all the different chlorinators, cells and pumps? Do they change the timers accordingly with the different seasons? Are they amending your production levels based upon how much chlorine is in your pool? Are they ensuring to clean your filter regularly? What about your cell? Is there a lot of calcium build up? If yes, that's a sign they're not being as diligent as they should be.

We can go on and on about the things and signs to look out for, however, all in all, the easiest way to ensure your pool is receiving the proper care it needs is switching over to Pool Wizard.

Pools are expensive, and so is the equipment that comes with it, so it's obvious you should be picky about the technician that comes out and services it. We don't blame you, and rather, agree with you! Trust me, as the owner of Pool Wizard, I can guarantee that you'll be incredibly looked after and always updated on your pool, equipment and everything in between after a service.
